Cutting Carbon emissions: Linfox & SCA are in for the long haul

Sustainability is an integral part of everything we do at SCA. Collaborating with like-minded suppliers is just one of the ways we develop our environmental agenda.

This is why we were very excited to hear the recent environmental announcement from our primary logistics partner Linfox. Between 2007 and 2009 Linfox have cut the rate of their greenhouse emissions by 28 per cent, already exceeding the target of 15% set in 2007, and in fact reaching their target 12 months ahead of schedule.

SCA, Director of Sales and Marketing – B2B Tiffiny Lewin says “We would like to offer our congratulations and continued support to Linfox on their achievements”. “It‘s vitally important to SCA HA that we have partners who share our environmental commitment and we’re proud to continue to work with Linfox to help achieve these types of goals.”

To reach their emission reduction goal, Linfox introduced a suite of measures across all operations; from eco-driver training that ensures drivers optimise fuel consumption, to introducing smart warehouse lighting systems.

Joint logistical initiatives with SCA contributing to this result include standardising the local SCA metro fleets with a higher holding capacity resulting in freight consolidation and maximizing the amount of product loaded onto each vehicle.  This in turn has reduced the number of trucks on the road.

Again, we congratulate Linfox on their impressive achievement.
