SCA one of the world’s most ethical companies
SCA has been named one of the most ethical companies in the world for the third year in a row. The company is one of only four organisations in the forestry, paper and packaging sector to be named in this year’s list. The others were Stora Enso, International Paper and Weyerhaeuser.
The World’s Most Ethical Companies listing is drawn up each year by the Ethisphere Institute in New York. News of SCA’s success comes within months of the company’s sixth consecutive appearance in the Global 100 world’s most sustainable corporations listing.
“We are delighted to have been named one of the most ethical companies in the world for a third consecutive year,” said Tiffiny Lewin, SCA Hygiene Australasia’s, Director of Sales and Marketing – B2B. “As an organisation we always make every effort to manage our extensive operations in the most responsible manner possible. The fact that we have repeatedly been recognised for this - ahead of all our major competitors -speaks for itself.”
The Ethisphere Institute makes its judgement based on various criteria such as sustainability track record, the way a company responds to the community and how it audits its supply chain. Companies that make the list are those that demonstrate outstanding ethics and compliance programmes, particularly compared with their industry peers.
No set number of companies make the list each year, though this year there are 100 World’s Most Ethical Companies.
In January, SCA was named among the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World list at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. This annual listing was first introduced in 2005 and SCA has featured every year since its inception.
The Global 100, initiated by Corporate Knights Inc. with Innovest as the exclusive research provider, evaluates companies on how effectively they manage environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities.
